RoundTable Technology, having just celebrated its 13th birthday last month, began as a solitary endeavor, with a focus on cloud services. Its founder, Evan Desjardins seeded the enterprise in the belief that technology had the potential to transcend barriers and create better prospects for both himself and the clients he served.
Starting off in a call center and transitioning through various IT roles, Evan experienced the volatile landscape of the tech industry, witnessing the detrimental impacts of significant events like the 9/11 terror attacks on the job market. This experience fostered a resilient spirit, culminated in the formation of RoundTable Technology, a company that initially stood as the lone entity selling hosted desktops, email, and servers in Maine back in 2010. Predictions about the impending cloud revolution proved true, and RoundTable took off.
The true metamorphosis occurred around 2013 when RoundTable partnered with now long-time employee, Joshua Peskay, but at that time employed by the Fund for the City of New York, to help service the Fund and other nonprofit organizations in NYC. This ended up marking RoundTable’s pivot to specializing exclusively in the nonprofit sector.
Joshua ended up wanting to join and help grow a small business rather than being involved in running the Fund, and with his professional connections with nonprofits throughout the state of New York, he came to join RoundTable in 2013.
This transformation ended up being more than just a business strategy; it was a profound alignment with a mission to utilize technology as a conduit to help nonprofits and mission-driven small businesses achieve their objectives.
Evolution of Mission
The evolution of RoundTable’s mission is steeped in principles of transparency and truth. Early experiences shaped a staunch resolve to uphold integrity, leading to a rejection of hourly billing and a commitment to clear, upfront pricing. The vow to present truth in billing and the success in eliminating billable hours stands, its expertise in the nonprofit sector, and truly knowing how to put its client’s missions first, stands as a testament to the company’s dedication to providing ethical services.
The pivotal decision to focus predominantly on the nonprofit space and the connection with Joshua were defining moments that shaped the company’s trajectory. These junctures marked the alignment of the company’s services with the unique needs and missions of nonprofits, underscoring a commitment to offer solutions that are just, transparent, and tailored.
Expansion of Services
RoundTable’s service repertoire, including managed and co-managed IT services, high level strategic services, cybersecurity, and compliance, is not just a mere array of offerings but a reflection of the collective intelligence and passion that permeates the company. These services emerged from the collective minds within the company, identifying unmet needs in the marketplace and striving to fulfill them.
RoundTable prides itself on its proactive approach to cybersecurity, ensuring that integrity is maintained by practicing what is preached. RoundTable has issued its SOC 2 Type 2 Report which we completed to demonstrate our security program is meeting RoundTable’s commitments to our customers.
Creating a Platform for Excellence
RoundTable Technology stands as a beacon for nonprofits, providing a platform where brilliance converges to forge innovative solutions. Evan’s vision to create an environment where smart, passionate individuals could experiment with new ideas and services has fostered a culture of excellence that addresses the foundational needs of nonprofit organizations while also partnering with them to foster growth and organizational maturity.
A Vision Realized
Today, RoundTable Technology is more than an IT consulting firm; it is a realization of a vision to elevate nonprofits through technology, a conduit for ethical and innovative solutions, and a platform where passion meets excellence to create transformative IT solutions. It is a journey of resilience, integrity, and unwavering commitment to empowering nonprofits, a journey where technology is the companion to organizations striving to make a difference.
In the words of our CEO, “We want to fix things before they break,” and this proactive, client-centric approach is what makes RoundTable Technology an unparalleled ally for nonprofits in their mission to serve and make a lasting impact.
