In this module, you'll learn about the key steps in setting up an information management program for your organization or department. Get an overview of the why's and how's — as well as practical hands-on activities — and start building the foundation for your organization's privacy and information management.

Segment 1: Why it's Privacy by Design

In this video you'll get ready to create a privacy program at your organization — you'll be introduced to privacy by design and the NIST Privacy Framework, which provide a solid framework for the information management practices covered in this course.

Segment 2: Know your Privacy Environment

In this video you'll learn the first steps in establishing a privacy culture at your organization.

Segment 3: Know Your Data — Inventory and Mapping

Learn how to use a data inventory, data map and data classification — basic building blocks for privacy. These are the tools for documenting what information you have, how you collect it and what happens once that information is in your organization. Together these are a blueprint for your data privacy program.

Segment 4: Let's Talk About Risk

In this video you'll learn about the approaches to conducting a risk assessment of that meets your organization's or department's information management needs. Conducting a risk assessment (and continuing that practice!) is another essential step in managing information and privacy.

Segment 5: Govern — What are the Rules?

In this video you'll learn principles of governance, and approaches you can take to understand the current state of data/information governance in your organization or department. When building information management best practices, which does involve change, the best (and only) place to start is we are.
