Module 1: Privacy Fundamentals and GDPR
Learn what is meant by "privacy" and gain an understand the core principles that guide protection individual privacy rights and GDPR.
In this module you'll learn about how to cultivate privacy practices from within. We look at ways sustain a privacy program that can be practiced throughout an organization. By now you know that a privacy program will not be built overnight — in the Activate module we look at the NIST Tiers and Profiles and how you can use that model as a way to build an iterative, realistic roadmap.
In this segment, you'll learn ways to communicate the value of a privacy program and ensure that colleagues get on board. You'll also learn about how privacy policies are not cookie cutter and can be tailored for roles across your organization.
In this segment, you'll learn about the alignment between practicing data privacy and ethics. Data management practices — the practices that get put in place to manage privacy — are also a necessary component for ethical data practice. Data ethics is an emerging area of focus, and the world will benefit if more nonprofit professionals are speaking the language of data ethics.
You'll learn about the tiered approach that the NIST framework utilizes — understand your current state and build your program incrementally from there. It will take time to build privacy practices and different organizations will have different priorities. Just start where you are.
You've gotten to this last video module in our privacy journey — thank you for joining us! In this segment, you'll learn how to take the topics we've covered in the last several modules and build your organization's roadmap. We provide a Roadmap Builder tool which you can use to sketch our your 1-2 year privacy roadmap.
